dickens wrote this book when he was under deadline pressure by his publisher. he was famous but he had writers block and he was depressed. he vas afraid that he would end up in prison because of debts and his kids would have to work at night to earn some money as another kids did. then he though about the injustice and how rich people use poor. it gave him the idea of writing a christmas carol. it was small and cheap book so many people could afford it. he earned lot of money and he was merry again.
